Toun Cryer magazine was launched in 2005 by Lynn Stewart, a young mum and former marketing professional who realised it had the potential to grow and become a popular advertising vehicle for businesses throughout East Lothian. Five years later, having gone from a 30-page black and white publication to an 80-page full colour production – still retaining the popular A5 format - it is now the largest free distribution magazine in the region and this year, in response to demand from advertisers, Toun Cryer will be published six times a year instead of four.
To coincide with the magazine’s increased frequency the website (www.touncryer.co.uk) has been updated and improved to provide East Lothian’s population with an interesting and user-friendly source of local news, weather, special attractions, exhibitions, business information, recipes, places to eat and details of forthcoming events taking place in the region. Better still, it’s an interactive website – if you know of, or are organising an event you would like people to know about, call or email and it will be listed on the website FREE OF CHARGE.
The website also includes a Trades Directory businesses can subscribe to for a modest annual fee of £100. As most people prefer to support local organisations and business whenever possible, this is an ideal advertising platform for local companies. It’s also an invaluable reference for homeowners that makes light work of sourcing specialist services, tradesmen, hotels and restaurants, visitor attractions etc.
With more than 1,000 visitors to the site each week, the Toun Cryer website is rapidly being perceived as the place to find out the latest news and events in East Lothian. Bookmark the website for even faster access and you’ll never again find yourself saying ‘I wish I’d known that was on….’
Lynn and her team are always happy to discuss any issues regarding advertising, editorial features, local news and events, trade listings and more. The motto now is: If it’s going on it should be going in!
