Mat Work Classes

The Pilates method of body conditioning is a system of stretching and strengthening exercises originally designed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900s.

The mat work series is a programme that supports the individual to develop and improve posture, flexibility, alignment, balance, coordination and control through the regular practice of specifically designed exercises and breathing techniques. Classes can be taught on a one-to-one basis or in a group setting.

T’ai-Chi Chuan

Translated as  ‘Supreme Ultimate Way’ (the way of nature), this ancient Chinese martial art for health and self defence has been developed and practised for over 3000 years to promote well-being, health and longevity. It is taught as a series of a slow, graceful  movements, to integrate and develop the mind, body and Ki (vital life force or energy).

The  Yang style short form is practised in these classes .

A simple and unique system of health, movement and meditation exercises for well-being.

Yoga

Yoga - from the Sanskrit ‘Yuj’ - (join) or the union of mind, body and spirit through the practice of postures (asanas), breathing, concentration and meditation. Practised in India for over 2,000 years, yoga develops well-being on all levels by improving muscle tone, increasing health, stamina and agility, calming the mind and balancing the body systems. This yoga practice is informed by body-mind centering and the Scaravelli approach which develop internal awareness and the natural relationship of the body to gravity, breath and release.
