Brunton Theatre is continuing to programme films as part of their season, following the instalment of a new large screen and surround sound equipment in 2009, purchased with the support of Friends of Brunton Theatre.

Next week cinema lovers can see a fresh interpretation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s most famous detective in Sherlock Holmes (12A) on Monday 17 May. Director Guy Ritchie casts off the deerstalker and offers a new interpretation in this rollicking Victorian romp starring Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law. Revealing fighting skills as lethal as his legendary intellect, Holmes must battle as never before to bring down a new nemesis, the serial killer and occult sorcerer Lord Blackwood. Robert Downey Jr won an award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for his portrayal of Holmes at this year’s Golden Globes.

Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin star in the romantic comedy It’s Complicated (15) on Wednesday 19 May. When attending their son’s graduation, a couple reignite the spark in their relationship, but the complication is that they’re divorced and he’s remarried! The film, which was nominated for Golden Globes including Best Picture and Best Actress, earned the multi award winning Streep another award for Best Actress at this year’s Irish Film and Television Awards.

Tickets are £5 - £5.50 (£4.50 - £5) and are available from Brunton Theatre Box Office on 0131 665 2240 or online at www.bruntontheatre.co.uk
