Adding to North Berwick’s growing café culture is ‘Strings’ – the new café at the courts. Following a successful pilot last year, ‘Strings’ is now open daily (except Tuesdays) for the summer season on 1st May at North Berwick’s Tennis Club. With an ‘Alfresco’ style setting overlooking the tennis courts and the beach, ‘Strings’ is being jointly managed by sisters Anna Hirons and Jacquie Gibson, serving traditional teas and home-baking, lunches, brunches and pre-booked evening meals. Jacquie Gibson, from North Berwick comments, "We were delighted by the success of the pilot last summer and were very grateful for the support and encouragement of the tennis committee and club. Local people and tourists were very enthusiastic about the tennis pavilion being used as a café again after so many years. Some people even brought in their old photos to show us.
