Primary schools from across East Lothian have been taking part in a model-bee-making competition as part of the council’s ‘Be Nice’ campaign. This is a council-wide campaign to encourage the public to treat council staff with respect. The campaign emphasises that physical, verbal or mental violence towards staff is not acceptable. Last Wednesday (23 June 2010), East Lothian Council Customer Services Manager Eileen Morrison and Corporate Health and Safety Adviser awarded certificates and prizes to two of the winning schools, Prestonpans Infants School and Sanderson’s Wynd Primary School. Clive will also be attending a special assembly at Haddington Infants on 1 July 2010 to award pupils with their winners’ certificates and prize. Customer Services Manager Eileen Morrison says: ‘It has been such a pleasure seeing all the wonderful models that the children have made. They are so impressive that we are going to put them on display at council receptions across the county. I am so pleased that so many of our schools have found this campaign helpful. It’s really important for all of us that we deal nicely with each other and it’s a very good lesson to learn at any age.’
