INTERIORS SUCCESS STORY LAUNCHES EDINBURGH STORE

Time & Tide, the successful independent interiors brand, is opening a new shop in the heart of Edinburgh’s Morningside. The Edinburgh launch comes as demand increases for Time & Tide’s ethos of laid-back relaxed living with an emphasis on simple, natural, classic pieces for the home.

Ewan and Emma Douglas, the husband and wife team behind Time & Tide, already have successful stores in North Berwick and Peebles and the expansion of the brand’s customer-focused ranges of original furniture, gifts and accessories to the capital seemed a natural progression.

Ewan, a former retail buyer with over 20 years’ experience for interiors specialists including Liberty, Muji and the Conran Shop, explained: "With so many visitors from Edinburgh visiting our two North Berwick shops, we found we were delivering on a regular basis to homes in Edinburgh so it seemed logical to look for a suitable space in the city. The shop in Morningside Road is ideally placed for existing customers and we hope to attract many new customers to a bright, well laid-out environment where there will be an ever-changing product range led by the seasons."

The first Time & Tide store opened on North Berwick’s High Street in 2009 and was swiftly followed by a second, larger shop on the same street as customers buying the high quality, affordable products began to call on Ewan’s design skills for interiors consultations in their homes, leading Time & Tide to start branching out from clocks, candles, soft furnishings and lighting into sourcing bespoke furniture. Time & Tide’s Peebles store opened last year and has enjoyed a loyal following among local residents and tourists alike.

Emma and Ewan’s brand of friendly, customer-focussed trading has built a loyal following of customers who appreciate the stores’ emphasis on responsibly-sourced stock, from solid oak furniture to their branded vegetable wax candles, feather-filled cushions, quality wool throws, mirrors and artwork. Emma’s flair for customer service ensures a steady stream of regular customers who rely on her to let them know when new products matching their home style arrive in the stores – a service she is looking forward to continuing in Morningside.
