Wednesday 24 August 7.30pm

Alex Hodgson, a Scottish singer songwriter based in Prestonpans, East Lothian will perform at Musselburgh’s Brunton Theatre on Wednesday 24 August as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Alex, who has a musical career spanning several decades, has produced a show which is bursting with humour and heartfelt stories, traditional Scottish songs and his own compositions. Since the release of his debut album Jeelie Jars ‘N’ Coalie Backies with Greentrax, he has played at Celtic Connections, the Scottish Parliament, performed for the Queen at Balmoral and played a live Hogmanay broadcast with BBC Radio Scotland. He has written seven of the songs on his album and his love of the Lothians, in particular, are etched in the lyrics. His music is distinctively Scottish, with both a charm and humour that reflect his background and love of music.

"Hodgson’s song writing is the revelation"

- Iain Campbell
"He has a warm, rich voice" - The Scotsman
