A day of fun, colourful, cultural activities from around the world is coming to Prestongrange Museum, Prestonpans, on Saturday 18th September. The free family day was a huge success last year and this year’s event looks set to be even better – featuring Indian, Flamenco and Bellydancing, Kenyan Maasai warriors, Brazilian and Chinese martial arts and African and Scottish choirs to name just a few of the attractions. As well as dance and music in the main marquee, there will be a food area giving visitors young and old the chance to sample the cuisine of different countries. There will also be an arts and crafts marquee with a wide variety of stalls offering Fairtrade goods, cakes, cards and much more. For younger visitors, there will be children’s storytelling, a French puppet show and various fun workshops, including the chance to learn about the art of henna tattoos. The visitor centre and cafe will be open, featuring an exhibition of flowers, plants and butterflies of the Himalayas and also the chance to do some Chinese tea tasting. Councillor Paul McLennan, Equalities Champion, said: "This event was fantastic last year so we’re hoping visitors return this year – along with many more new faces. It’s a great opportunity to visit one of East Lothian’s real assets – the Prestongrange Museum – while enjoying some free fun from around the world." There is no entry fee for the event, which runs from 12 noon to 6pm, although there will be a small cost for some activities.
